Guided cycle rides

Our new Community Cycle Centres will have regular free rides that everyone can take part in.  We’re in the process of launching them at the moment, with regular rides starting from Spring 2018.   To see our  calendar of rides, once the dates are available, click here.

Everyone’s welcome!

Our rides are open to anyone with a bike – some are led by our instructors and some are organised by our partners. All ages are welcome, however if you are 16 or under you need to be accompanied by a responsible adult. There is no need to book – just turn up at the meeting point in good time to start the ride.

About the rides – selecting a route

guided rideThe rides are all at a comfortable pace, and we ensure that no-one gets left behind. To help you select which route, we have grouped them into four general distance categories:

  • Short = less than 15 miles
  • Medium = less than 25 miles
  • Long = less than 35 miles
  • Very Long = 35 miles+

Most rides include a stop at a café or pub for refreshments en-route!

Your ride leaders

Our volunteer ride leaders are all experienced cyclists. They have researched each route in advance and are happy to answer questions about it or about bikes and cycling in general.

What to bring

  • Your bike! – please make sure it is in good working order
  • Your cycling helmet
  • Wear sensible clothing and footwear
  • If the weather looks unpredictable please bring a waterproof and an extra jumper
  • A drink
  • A small amount of cash for buying refreshments
