Unless you are following a tried and tested route it is worth planning your journey before you set off. There is a range of online tools to help you do this.
To plan a journey from A to B use the Traveline cycling journey planner.
If your route takes in part of the National Cycle Network then you can use this planner from Sustrans.
There’s a whole host of great websites and apps to help you with your cycling. Here’s a run-down of some of the most popular ones.
MapMyRide and RunKeeper – website and phone app which allow you to track your activity (not just cycling), save routes, search for routes uploaded by others and calculates the calories you have burned off. Both are free to register and to use, and paid upgrades are available for more functions.
Garmin Devices track your time, distance, speed, location and calories burned. You can also join their online community and challenge others to rides or routes.
If you’re not sure about planning your own route, or would like some company whilst you cycle why not join us for our guided cycle rides?
