By planning your journey in advance you can save yourself time and money by taking the most suitable route. Always allow enough time for your journey by adding some extra on to the minutes calculated by the journey planner. Take a printed road map and/or city street map with you in case of detours to your expected route.
If you’re using a Sat Nav, ensure that you programme it before you set off, and check out the AA’s top tips for getting the most out of your Sat Nav.
Plan in advance where you are going to park.
Once you’ve planned your route check for known roadworks or incidents in advance. Check out our page on roadworks for more information. Whilst you’re driving it’s a good idea to listen to local or national radio for travel incidents and delays.
