Our partners provide essential support in enabling us to communicate our region’s sustainable transport plans and aspirations, using The Big Wheel’s innovative and eye-catching style and messages.
Nottingham City Council have been recognised for best practice in a number of areas including local transport delivery and accessibility improvements. We work closely with the Council, especially in the run up to our main events such as European Mobility Week.
Ridewise is a Nottingham based charity committed to providing practical solutions that make cycling an enjoyable and safe form of everyday transport. Ridewise work closely with the local health sector, Universities, Councils, Transport, Sport and Leisure teams, community organisations, disability organisations, youth groups and primary schools.
TravelRight is service delivered by Ridewise as part of Nottingham City Council’s Local Sustainable Transport Fund (LSTF) programme of activities. Helping people in North Nottingham, Gedling and Broxtowe to get around by cycling, walking and using public transport.
Sustrans are a national charity promoting and enabling people to travel by foot, bike or public transport. The charity delivers projects to help people choose healthier, cleaner and cheaper journeys and enjoy better, safer spaces where they live. We work closely with Sustrans Ucycle, a project working to increase levels of cycling amongst staff and students at the Universities, local further education colleges and Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
The Big Wheel also collaborates with a number of sport, leisure and creative industries who provide essential support in order for us get our message across to high volumes of people across venues in and around the City. These include Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club, Nottingham Rugby, Sports Nottinghamshire, The Royal Centre Nottingham and Nottingham Playhouse and Left Lion.
The Big Wheel is part of the Greater Nottingham Transport Partnership and we work to ensure that people living and working in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire have access to all the information they need to make the most of a greener transport network. The Greater Nottingham Transport Partnership (GNTP) is a strategic advisory body who provide advice and support on transport planning and represents both public and private sectors. It works to promote a greater use of public transport, walking and cycling and it develops innovative visions for the future to continue to improve our transport network and services.
