Western Power Distribution is looking for around 50 West Bridgford households who have or who are thinking of buying an Electric Vehicle (EV) to take part in an exciting pilot scheme that’s part of its LV Connect and Manage programme.
The 18-month pilot is being run in partnership with the Sustainable Travel Collective’s Big Wheel team and engineering specialists Nortech Management Limited, and brings free electric vehicle fast chargers to 50 households. Fast chargers and some control equipment will be provided and installed for free without customers having to go through the disruption of upgrading the electricity cables into their home, and paying for that service.
The pilot scheme is part of a project to look at ways to help the electricity distribution companies manage high levels of demand for power from equipment such as fast chargers.
The LV Connect and Manage project will be delivered in three phases:
1. Mobilisation – communicating to West Bridgford households, community events and signing up eligible home owners.
2. Connect and Manage Trials – installation of the equipment, for the trial which will last until September 2018.
3. Analysis and Close Down – analysing the results of the pilot and decommissioning the equipment, which can remain in the residents house for free.
