Police look back in time for ways to solve crime
Trojan bus helps prevent vandalism
Police in Nottingham have used a clever trick from ancient times to stop vandals in their paces. In partnership with the Respect for Transport campaign, they have created their very own modern-day spin on the Trojan horse – a Trojan bus!
The Trojan bus looks exactly like a normal NCT bus – but it couldn’t be more different. The windows are toughened glass that’s harder to break, and all the passengers are really police officers in plain clothes. The bus has great back up too; there are police cars in the area, ready to head to the bus if needed.
Since April the Trojan bus has toured the streets of Nottingham regularly, and it seems to be doing the trick. There have only been 48 windows broken by throwing stones – down from 71 last year – excellent news!
But don’t worry – the police aren’t putting their feet up and patting themselves on the back. The Trojan bus will still be out and about in the run up to Halloween. And this bus is just one of many initiatives brought about by the Respect for Transport campaign, which is there to make sure all of you feel safe using our buses and trams.
