River Trent Suspension Bridge closure
Confused by the sudden closure of the River Trent Suspension Bridge? Well, the Big Wheel has got the latest details.
Owners Severn Trent Water Authority closed the bridge after an inspection showed that some repairs may be needed. So they’re carrying out a full structural survey (looking at all the nuts and bolts and joints and cables closely) to figure out what work they might need to do.
We’ve been told that their survey will probably show that they need to do some renovations. If that happens the bridge will have to stay closed for longer while they finish all repairs - just to make sure the bridge is totally safe for all of you before they reopen it.
We’ll keep you updated on the latest news but in the meantime diversions signs are up and you can use either Trent Bridge or the Toll Bridge. Remember your journeys may take longer than usual and allow extra time for any delays.
