All the people, so many people…

Nottingham’s summer events are a huge success

Kanga and friend with Wheelie Big Breakfast vouchers

Tomorrow sees the final Parklife event of the summer.  Taking place at parks across Greater Nottingham, thousands have flocked to enjoy sports activities, dancing and – our Kanga’s personal favourite – musical statues.  The event runs from 11am to 4pm at Vernon Park in Basford.  That’s just a short walk from David Lane tram stop so getting there couldn’t be easier.

Tomorrow’s Parklife is the last time Kanga will be out and hopping about this summer.  And what a summer he’s had!  He gave out our lovely summer of cycling and walking goodies to 5,000 lucky kids at the Global Picnic. He did his best to meet all 10,000 attendees at the ever-popular Riverside Festival.  He even handed out breakfast vouchers to 250 hungry cyclists at the annual Wheelie Big Breakfast.

That’s just the tip of the iceberg – he reckons he met over 1,000 people at nearly every event he’s been to.  Some drew much bigger crowds – like Splendour Festival, with approximately 10,000 visitors, and Great Notts Bike Ride with 3,700 cyclists!  He’s also been to 7 Parklife events, Nottingham Pride, Splendour Festival and Street Games.

With all that hard work it’s hardly surprising that he’s tired out and needs some time off.  Don’t worry though – it’s not the last we’ll see of Kanga!  He’ll still be popping up from time to time in his hat and mittens throughout the colder months, watch this space to find out more.
