The Big Wheel Scores a Run at the Cricket!

Big Wheel gets out and about at Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club

On Bank Holiday Monday The Big Wheel teamed up with Notts County Cricket Club for a family fun day to promote transport to and from the match by bus, walking or cycling. Spectators at the Notts v Glamorgan were treated to fun and excitement on and off the pitch from a whole host of activities

In glorious Bank Holiday sunshine, The Big Wheel’s mascots were out to play. The now famous Kangaroo, which promotes the kangaroo pass for bus, trams and trains, was accompanied The Big Wheel’s new Hamster handing out t-shirts and badges to children. Fans were also kept entertained by a couple of ‘astronauts’ which were patrolling the ground to promote alternatives to cars (though not including space shuttles!).  However the day wasn’t just about people walking around in giant costumes. There was a serious message of promoting a healthy lifestyle. There was information on how to get your five-a-day including free fruit. And there was the chance to combine healthy eating with exercise by pedaling for a free fruit smoothie on the BlendaVenda, a pedal powered blender which proved to be a great way of getting children to eat one of their five-a-day. Also keeping children busy was the professional storyteller and on hands on art workshop. Adults were kept entertained by in the Caravan of Truth by a fortune teller
