So what can we do to help you put your plans into action? To start with, you may be eligible for funding under the TransAct scheme to help you with those little extras that can make a big difference to your organisation. You might need a bike stand, teleworking equipment, or alterations to your car park. To start the ball rolling contact Matthew Price, the Big Wheel Business Club adviser for the City of Nottingham on 0115 915 5141, email matthew.price@nottinghamcity.gov.uk or call 0115 977 4658 if your organisation is in the County of Nottinghamshire.
To be eligible for a TransAct grant, you will need to produce a travel plan. Again the Business Club advisers can help you. A travel plan is a comprehensive approach to improving transport to and from your organisation. It starts, as all good plans must, with a survey, since it's only when you know who is doing what, where, when and how that you can really start to change things. It's simple and you'll be able to fill it in on this site, once the Business Club advisers have given you a special password.
There are national experts, too, that can give you a steer on travel planning. ACT Travelwise have been long promoting travel planning, in March 2008 the Department for Transport released The Essential Guide to Travel Planning and the Energy Saving Trust (EST) has a free advice service aimed at companies looking to make their car or van fleet more environmentally friendly. Call 0845 602 1425 or register on www.est.org.uk.
