The Greater Nottingham Transport Partnership represents both the private and public sectors. It provides advice and support on all the key aspects of transport planning. The GNTP works to help implement the Local Transport Plan (LTP) which is produced by the City Council and County Council. The GNTP also lobbies locally, regionally and nationally to bring in extra funding. It has been recognised nationally for its work.
As a 'Strategic Action Team' of the Greater Nottingham Partnership, the GNTP has responsibility for granting and administering funding for some transport measures on behalf of EMDA. One of its major projects is The Big Wheel, a campaign to explain the Local Transport Plan and encourage green travel.
The GNTP is chaired by Derek Brewer, Chief Executive of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club, and includes representatives from across the public, private, local authority, voluntary and community sectors.
Organisations currently part of the GNTP include the City and County Councils, Nottingham City PCT, Boots, Experian, the Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce, the City Centre Retailers Association, the Nottinghamshire Rural Community Council and the Federation of Small Businesses.
