Keep cycling and walking throughout the autumn and winter
Now that the days are getting shorter and gradually colder it may be tempting to stop cycling and walking until the spring. So why not try joining a guided ride or walk to keep you motivated, fit and active throughout the colder months?
Rural Rides, the popular County Council initiative that offers free guided rides continues until the end of November. They offer easy routes for a fun, family day out and longer, more taxing rides for all you serious cyclists. If you’re interested in cycling along quiet lanes and off-road routes while meeting new friends why not give a Rural Rides a try? Visit Rural Rides or call 0115 977 2166 for more details.
If walking is more your thing the County Council has put together a leaflet about guided walks in the county, with listings for all kinds of walks – from quick and easy strolls to full day treks. There are details of walks right up to the start of 2009 – you don’t even have to take a break for Christmas if you don’t want to! Click here for details
For walks closer to the City Centre you need to put your Best Foot Forward! This initiative, run by Nottingham PCT, organises walks across Nottingham. Whether you want a short walk along the canal, or to roam around Wollaton Park there’s something for you. Visit Best Food Forward for details.
Don’t worry if you’d rather go it alone – just remember to take your waterproofs, wrap up warm and take a bottle of water!
