Why get the tram?

There are so many ways of getting around Greater Nottingham that it can be tough to choose which is best for you.  If you’re thinking about travelling by tram you’re in good company – 38 million people have used the tram since it launched in 2004.  People who get the tram are a contented lot – overall satisfaction with the tram stands at a brilliant 93%, and here’s why:

Quick and easy

The tram is quite simply an excellent way of travelling.  The dedicated routes are mostly car-free and so avoid the rush hour congestion and traffic jams, meaning you can get to your destination in record time.  It’s easy to work out where you need to get off – announcements on the tram tell you where to get off for popular attractions and there are route maps on all trams.  All trams are fully accessible and are level with the pavement so moving from one to the other is a piece of cake.

Regular and reliable

NET run regular services between Nottingham Station and Hucknall and Phoenix Park. They run approximately every 12 minutes at peak times – and that’s if you need to go right to the end of the line.  If you don’t need to travel past David Lane you might find you only have to wait a few minutes to wait between trams.  There are real-time display boards at all tram stops so you can see at a glance when your next tram will arrive.

Joined-up

The tram can’t take you everywhere – but it’s just a hop, skip and a jump to a bus that can take you exactly where you need to go.  And tickets like the superb Kangaroo card mean you can pay once and travel all day long.  Planned new NET lines to the south and west of the city mean that soon more areas will benefit from this quick and easy service so the tram can take you closer to where you need to go.

Value for money

There are loads of ticket options available to suit you – from integrated tickets that combine bus and tram travel to weekly tram tickets.  All of these are great value for money and give you some huge savings.  Even if you only use the tram occasionally it might offer savings on car travel – an all day ticket for the tram costs just £2.70 – which is a fraction of the cost of parking all day!  Click here for full details of all the tickets available.

So there you have it – the tram will help you save time and money, isn’t it time you got on board?
