Free off peak travel for people aged 60+

Since the 1st April 2008, all people aged 60 and over and eligible disabled have been  entitled to free off peak local bus travel anywhere in England.  Yes, that’s right free, so you’ll be able to cross the country without paying a penny!

In case you’re wondering “off peak” means 9:30am – 11pm, Monday – Friday and all day at weekends and on bank holidays, that’s a lot of travelling time!  The new rules only apply to buses, if you’re planning on travelling to other areas check to see if you’re entitled to other local benefits.  There’s no need to worry, Nottingham residents will still keep their extra travel benefits, so you can still use the tram.

If you think you’re entitled to a travel pass and you haven’t already got one, it’s really easy to get your hands on one.  All you have to do is fill out an application form, available from any City library or the Travel Centre in the Old Market Square, and take it to the Travel Centre.  For more information on this process or about the new rules call (0115) 950 60 70 or visit: http://www.citycardnottingham.co.uk/National_08/changes_april08.html
