We’re just a hop, skip and a train away from the rest of the world…
Since the opening of the restored and redeveloped St Pancras International getting to the continent from Nottingham has never been easier. East Midlands Trains runs regular direct services to the station and all you have to do then is change platforms and you could be whizzing off to France, Belgium and beyond…
The reopening of St Pancras International marked the launch of a new high speed rail link to Europe, run by Eurostar. This has cut journey times by at least 20 minutes, and increased reliability and punctuality. As well as the direct trains to Belgium and northern France, Eurostar offer connections to over 100 European destinations. You can even book a hotel at the same time – saving you time and money.
But what if you want to travel further afield or to a place that Eurostar trains don’t serve? Well, the Man in Seat Sixty-One is here to help. He’s a former British Rail and Department for Transport employee who set up a fantastic independent website that can tell you how to get practically anywhere by train (and boat when the railway can’t take you all the way). Whether you want to soak up the history on a trip to China or to just enjoy sunny Spain he’s got the info you need. He can tell you which operators can take you, at what time, how much they’ll charge and how to get tickets. Travelling the world sustainably has never felt so easy!
So, it’s first stop Nottingham, next stop the world!
