Cycle routes to Hucknall

Cycling links between Hucknall and Nottingham City Centre have been given a boost.

Our friends at Nottingham City Council have been investing in the 10km Hucknall Road cycle route, to help commuters who want to get on their bike.  The route whizzes past Nottingham City Hospital, Southglade Leisure Centre and through Bulwell on the way to Hucknall.

They’ve made impressive changes to the route, including upgrading off-road cycle corridors and creating more bike-friendly toucan crossings.  They’ve also produced a swanky leaflet to demonstrate to all of you what changes they’ve made – and where they’ve made them.

This is all part of a bigger scheme set out in the Local Transport Plan to make cycling into our city easier for everyone, which is great news for our planet, our waistline and our wallets!  Next up for improved cycle links is Strelley – works will begin in spring 2009.
