Big Track Improvements

The Big Track has just got better. Thanks to funding from the Greater Nottingham Growth Point and Nottingham University the last bit of the route that was away from the waters edge has now had a new section of path built.

Now when you are heading out towards Beeston and you pass under the A52 flyover you can continue alongside the River, no longer needing to use the road and leave the riverside.

If you are heading into town, when you pass the gates at Grove Farm and you would normally head along the road towards Sat Bains, look for the green bollards and turn right. This will take you alongside the Trent to join with the existing path under the flyover.

Further improvements will see benches and new signing to further enhance the area and allow users to fully enjoy the route and the sights along it.

Now plan your cycle journey online!

Nottingham is the latest partner in the Department for Transport’s Transport Direct cycle journey planner. In a similar way to urban walking planner, www.walkit.com, the cycle journey planner allows bespoke journeys in selected areas of the country to be plotted online – you can even tailor your journey so you pick the quietest or quickest route! Partners in the initiative include Cycling England, Ordnance Survey and the local authorities.
