Providing easy access to information about the wide range of travel options available to those working and commuting in Greater Nottingham now means that more people are aware of the wealth of options, support and guidance on offer.
Greater Nottingham Transport Partnership
This strategic advisory and funding body supports the Big Wheel and represents the voluntary, private and public sectors on transport issues. It also acts as an important interface for businesses throughout the Greater Nottingham area.
The TransACT Grant Scheme
The scheme which started in October 2001 has helped small firms throughout Nottinghamshire to adopt Workplace Travel Plans by introducing a package of measures that aim to reduce car dependency and influence modal shift.
TripTimes
The Triptimes planner gives people the information they need, when they need it and in the right format for them. It’s a free online travel planner that provides quick and easy timetables and door to door routes for travel by foot and public transport within Nottingham. Information can also be downloaded onto mobile phones.
Big Wheel Business Club
The Business Club helps Greater Nottingham businesses to get the most out of travel management. There’s an online one-stop-shop for accessing information about better ways for employees, visitors and customers to travel to and from sites, as well as a package of free services and resources, supported with one-to-one guidance for putting plans into action.
Offering commuters quick, easy and comprehensive travel information, and helping businesses to present workers with more sustainable travel options has contributed to a 10% rise in public transport use between 2000 and 2006 – with benefits to employers of reduced road congestion, healthier employees and a better environment.
