Grants

So how can you put your plans into action? To start with, you may be eligible for funding under the TransACTscheme to help you with those little extras that can make a big difference to your organisation. You might, for example, need a bike stand, teleworking equipment, or alterations made to your car park.

To get the ball rolling, you can email Matthew Price, the Big Wheel Business Club adviser for Nottingham City, or call 0115 9155462. If your organisation is within Nottinghamshire County, call 0115 977 4658.

In order to be eligible for a TransACT grant, you will need to produce a travel plan, which the Business Club advisors can help you with.  A travel plan provides a comprehensive approach to improving transport to and from your organisation. The process starts with a survey, which is easy to complete and can be filled in on this website, once the Business Club advisers have given you a password. The survey will help to identify travel patterns and behaviours within your organisation, so that you can really start to change things. Please note, TransACT funding is only available to SMEs.

There are national experts too who can give you a steer on travel planning. ACT Travelwise has long been promoting travel planning. In March 2008 the Department for Transport released The Essential Guide to Travel Planning and the Energy Saving Trust (EST) has a free advice service aimed at companies looking to make their car or van fleet more environmentally friendly.
