What’s it all about?

The Lenton Area Travel Plan has been developed by the current members, Nottingham City Council www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk and the Highways Agency www.highways.gov.uk working in partnership towards a number of common goals.

We’re facing a difficult time – the cost of private motoring is increasing, the cost of congestion is affecting us all and the social and environmental impacts of record numbers of vehicles on our roads is becoming apparent locally, regional, nationally and globally.

And, it’s not just about global warming, it’s also about local air quality, increasing noise pollution, concerns about safety and now more than ever, concerns about our own personal health and wellbeing. This isn’t just a global problem, it’s right on our front doors.

It’s important for us all to play our part, to step into action and to make small changes that really can inject a breathe of fresh air into our region.

The Lenton Area Travel Plan has been created to help improve the area and the impact of traffic and congestion.

So, it all sounds great…but what do we really want to do?

  • Reduce journey times to work and for work purposes
  • Reduce how much money you spend on traveling to work
  • Make it easier for you to try the alternatives to driving to work on your own
  • Help improve the health and well-being of you and the people around you
