Pupils from Robin Hood Primary with their award
School pupils from Robin Hood Primary School in Bestwood have been celebrating this week as they won the Big Foot Award 2007 in recognition of their efforts to promote healthy ways to get to school.
The school has been involved in Nottingham City Council’s Footprint campaign which is designed to encourage more children to walk to school at least once a week. Over 10,000 of Nottingham City’s 36,000 school children are involved in the scheme and are playing their part in getting the proportion of children walking to school in Nottingham an impressive 66% compared to the national average of 50%.
They big wooden foot sculpture was unveiled on Tuesday during morning assembly by head teacher Jo Bell with a little help from the Big Wheel Kangaroo. The sculpture from artist Dan Hilton is over a metre long and this is the third year it has been awarded to a Nottingham city primary school.
Robin Hood Primary school is setting a fantastic example to other school children and adults throughout Nottingham as they make a great contribution to sustainable transport and beat the school run traffic… let’s follow them!
