East Midlands Parkway station opens and Railink bus service launches
As of Monday 26 January 2009, travellers flying to and from East Midlands Airport will have more options for how they get there. East Midlands Parkway station opens and a brand new bus service, Railink, connecting the station to the airport launches.
East Midlands Parkway is a brand new train station that will be served by over 100 trains a day. Trains to London from the station will run every 15-20 minutes at peak times, which is simply fantastic. It’s not just great news for the airport – commuters are set to benefit too. It’s only one mile away from the M1, so it can be used as a park and ride station for Nottingham, Derby and Leceister too!
The Railink bus service will run between East Midlands Parkway and East Midlands Airport. It will run every 30 minutes, from 7am to 11:30pm, 7 days a week. The clever bus providers have teamed up with train operators to make sure the timetable coincides with train arrivals and departures. That means you don’t have to worry about missing your train. The Railink is supported by the entire East Midlands – with funding coming from partners across the region.
The Big Wheel would like to say well done to all involved in getting these projects off the ground!
