Planning to treat yourself to a night on the tiles?
When money’s tight having fun sometimes flies out the window, but there are still ways to let loose while keeping a grip on your purse strings.
The brand new Easyrider CityCard is a quick and cost-effective way to catch the bus, but did you know it also entitles you to discounts in venues across the City? Dozens of great bars and top places to eat are signed up to the scheme, along with shops, salons and sports centres. Find out more about the scheme, which is open to anyone purchasing an NCT smart card. If you don’t need a smart card for bus travel and live in Nottingham City you can still get a Citycard Adult, which gives you the same benefits as the Easyrider Citycard, find out how to get one.
Even if you don’t get a CityCard you don’t have to miss out on everything Nottingham has to offer. On the First Wednesday of every month businesses throughout the city run some extra special promotions to ensure that you, your friends, family and colleagues can have a great night out. Don’t forget that using public transport can be a great way to save you money on your night out. On Friday and Saturday nights there are excellent late night bus services, which run into the wee small hours of the morning. Or if you want more flexibility taxis are a great option. If you share with your friends you’ll keep your costs down considerably. Book a taxi before you go out or if you don’t only get into a Hackney Carriage – private hire cars cannot be flagged down or wait at taxi ranks.
These tips may not mean you can (or should!) hit the town every night, but with gloomy time ahead there’s no need to stop having fun. So go on, treat yourself for once.
