Lots of people do their bit for their environment; whether it be travelling more sustainably or recycling. However, musician Victor Scott has taken being green to a whole new level – he has been using public transport to travel all over the UK to hold music workshops that use recycled materials.

Victor’s company junk4funk is now recognised throughout the UK as a fun way of getting the recycling message across and is also a great example of how even one person can play a big part in saving the environment – by travelling sustainably Victor has saved thousands of tonnes of CO2 which is quite an achievement!

Victor uses public transport to travel across the land to visit schools and festivals where he encourages adults and children to make their own instruments from recycled ‘junk’ such as cans, cornflake boxes, plastic bottles, straws and even pizza boxes. Catch Victor at local festivals Splendour and Riverside over the summer.

Inspired by Victor’s story? The first Green Britain Day will launch on July 10th and aims to inspire the nation to work together and lower the UK’s carbon footprint in time for the Olympics in 2010. Organiser EDF Energy is encouraging people all over the UK to ‘do something green for the team’ which it is hoped will set in motion a wave of tangible action that will lead to positive environmental change.
