National Bike Week kicks off on 19th June 2010 with a week of activities celebrating cycling and all the environmental, social and health benefits it brings.
‘Everyday cycling for everyone’ is the theme of this years event and throughout the week (19th – 27th June) there will be loads of events designed to inspire and encourage you to give cycling a go. After all, it’s a cheap and easy way to get fit, help the planet and have fun!
In support of Bike Week, The Big Wheel has been busy working with partners to come up with some great events and other fun ideas that should keep you busy!

The Big Track
Bike Week is the perfect time to take a spin around The Big Track – the city’s 10 mile car free route that runs along the River Trent and canal. It’s a haven for cyclists and walkers alike. Great Nottinghamshire Bike Ride
To get Bike Week off to a flying start, why not take part in the Great Nottinghamshire Bike Ride? This year’s event falls on Sunday 20th June – Father’s Day- a great idea for a fun packed family day out. Nottinghamshire’s biggest family bike ride features several different rides aimed at all levels – what’s more it takes in some beautiful countryside and is a great form of exercise.

Rural Rides
Once you’ve got the cycling bug you could even try one of the many popular Rural Rides – a programme of guided rides across Nottinghamshire for beginners right through to the enthusiast.
