Walk Week 2010 – and the new walking route planner!

Published on April 27, 2010

The Big Wheel’s Walk Week takes place this week and includes loads of fun free walking activities for everyone to enjoy. Activities include free Nordic Walking taster sessions and a special workout for new mums, who can take their buggies along as part of the activity, as well as lots of free local walks for people to take part in.

Full details of all the events included in this year’s Walk Week can be found by clicking here.

As part of this year’s Walk Week celebrations, Nottingham City Council is launching its new Walkit urban walking route finder. The Walkit route planner can help you to plan your walking journey within the city. It’s also a great way to plan a stroll during your lunchbreak or in the summer evenings.

Walking is a great way for people to get the five 30 minutes of exercise each week they need to stay fit and healthy. Regular exercise can reduce the risk of heart disease, obesity, stroke and diabetes, as well as improving mental health and well being.
