What to do with an extra hour of daylight
Don’t forget to set your clocks forward by one hour on Sunday 28th March 2010, when the start of British Summer Time officially begins!
We may be losing an hour but with extra daylight in the evenings and a long summer ahead, there’s plenty to look forward to after the clocks change.
So what can you do with the extra hour of daylight?
Here at the Big Wheel we have come up with some ideas, just in case you are struggling! Take advantage of the long summer evenings and leave your car at home when going out at night, why not take a walk in the park or explore the Big Track?
The Big Track
Why not spend your extra hour of daylight exploring The Big Track. It’s a 10 mile car free route that runs between Trent Bridge and Beeston Marina along the River Trent and canal. The route is fantastic for walking and cycling and connects lots of places to the city. You can even listen to the free online podcasts which is an audio tour of past, present and the future of the canal side Trent Valley region. Have a listen here
Tour of Wollaton Park
Take a stroll around the beautiful gardens and park at Wollaton Park. You can even take part in a new guided tour. There are child friendly themed tours of the house and nature trails too, so why not involve the whole family? To find out more click here.
Walk or cycle home from work
Take advantage of the lighter evenings and try out walking or cycling from work. There are a bunch of benefits to walking and cycling not only to your health but to the environment and your wallet too!
Check out the Big Wheels cycling and walking pages to find out how cycling and walking can benefit you. Not only this but you can also check out our handy route planner around the city.
