On 24th April 2010, staff from Rural Community Action Nottinghamshire (RCAN) will walk, cycle, run and horseride the entire 188 mile boundary of Nottinghamshire to raise money.
This money will help continue the good work in rural Nottinghamshire:-
- Developing the old pit tips at Annesley into Newstead and Annesley Country Park, preserving the rich habitat for many rare species and providing a new outdoor leisure space;
- Assisting isolated older people to get more out of life with our befriending scheme, gentle exercise programs and IT skills training courses;
- Helping people in rural areas back into work, as well as providing transport to essential services such as medical facilities, shopping, and leisure activities.
- Educating disaffected young people who are struggling with mainstream school, through alternative education, teaching vocational and life skills.
- To improve the profile of rural needs across the County.
This event not only inspires people to get up and get active but it is all in the name of a good cause. If you want to find out more how you could get involved please click here .
