Join in the festive fun at the Christmas light switch-on in the Old Market Square tonight
Nottingham’s celebrations for the festive season start in style today with the grand Christmas light switch on.
From 4:30pm a whole host of performers – from tap dancing turkeys to booming brass bands – will be taking to the streets. They’ll be getting everyone in the festive mood ready for the switch on by WBC Champion Carl Froch at approximately 6:20pm in the Old Market Square.
The thousands of twinkling lights will bring the city to life, rippling throughout the city centre to the contemporary Christmas tree at Canning Circus. The Christmas lights complete Nottingham’s winter wonderland, which includes the Victoria Centre Outdoor Ice Rink and the Christmas Market. These both open today and you’ll have chance to see dancing on ice and sample Glühwein while you enjoy the switch on celebrations.
