Value for money half term activities for young and old alike

Next week (Saturday 24th October – Sunday 1st November 2009) is half term in Nottingham and there are simply loads of fun things to do going on throughout the town.  Here are some of the best bits:

GameCity Squared Tuesday – Saturday
The videogame festival for everyone returns on Tuesday with an exciting programme of activities.  There is much more to the festival than playing videogames – there will be GameBoy song writing masterclasses, chance to make origami spaceships or enjoy public readings by top sci-fi authors.  Most activities will take place in the Old Market Square, and everything’s free (except for any food or drink you want to buy).  Join them for an experience that will transform how you see the games industry.

50p activities Monday – Friday
Nottingham City Council is once again running their popular 50p activities programme.  Kids will have chance to take part in a whole host of fun activities from dodgeball to crafts and games at leisure centres throughout the city.  The activities are a great way to get your kids active, keeping them happy and healthy.  And at 50p a day they’re good for your wallet too, so why not give them a go?

Mayhem Thursday – Sunday
And because kids shouldn’t have all the fun, here’s a horror film festival that’s just for adults.  Featuring old classics – such as Carrie and The Haunting – along with new releases, the festival at Broadway will satisfy your thirst for blood, guts and gore.  There will also be a series of special events, including a talk by the cast and creators of hit BBC comedy horror series Being Human.  The festival looks set to be a huge hit so if you want to join in the mayhem book your tickets now.
