Local bus company trent barton is being noticed for its excellent customer service
Last Thursday, 22nd October 2009, trent barton announced that the watchdog group Bus Users UK has rated them as one of the best bus companies in the UK. That would be an honour in itself, but this comes hot on the heels of the news that their driver Barry Allitt is in the running to be named “Best Bus Driver” at the UK Bus Awards.
Bus Users UK carried out a mystery audit travelling as regular passengers to get the real story on how trent barton treats its customers. While there is room for improvement – litter builds up through the day leading to a promise for more in-service cleaning – they did a great job overall. The company was praised in particular for offering value for money fares, an excellent website and helpful, friendly drivers.
One of these drivers has even been recognised with a nomination at the UK Bus Awards. Barry Allitt from Bulwell was named Driver of the Year by trent barton for finding “time for a friendly word with just about everyone”. And this is why Barry has been singled out as one of only six nominees from across the country for “Best Bus Driver 2009”.
Barry has already impressed industry bigwigs with his “commitment to customer service”, but the final stage of the contest will see him and his fellow nominees assessed by mystery travellers. Going by trent barton’s recent experiences he should pass this stage with flying colours, making choosing the winner a tough job for the judges. He’ll find out on 12th November if he’s won the title, but win or lose we’re proud to have one of the best bus drivers in the country working right here in Nottingham.
