So you’ve got the toothpaste, loaf of bread and pint of milk but don’t forget to pick up some advice on living a greener lifestyle.
From tomorrow (Thursday 30th July 2009) until Sunday 2nd August 2009 a whole host of experts and volunteers will be descending on the Victoria Centre to help you live in a more environmentally friendly way.
The Big Wheel team will be there on Thursday and Friday helping you to get around town without a car. You can also talk to representatives from Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire County Councils on everything from waste minimisation to walking more. If you bring your plastic bags along you can swap them for a reusable bag – and all the waste will be recycled into something more useful. In fact, there’s so much going on that you’ll just have to get down there and see what’s happening.
Everyone there will be talking about small changes that you can make that could have a big impact on the environment. Did you know leaving your car at home just one day a week will reduce the amount of pollution you’re releasing? That means the air you breathe will be cleaner, making you healthier. If you choose to walk or cycle you’ll have the added bonus of getting some exercise while you travel. Again your overall health will improve as your fitness increases and you’ll be saving money by avoiding the gym and car parking costs!
So if you only remember one thing off your shopping list pick up your helping of eco-friendly advice. Simply join us at the Victoria Centre on Thursday and Friday for more great tips that’ll help you and your family to stay healthy while saving money.
