The Big Wheel’s Big Day Out is our way of showing you how easy going car-free can be. Getting out of your car and onto public transport can help you to save time, money and the planet. If you’ve never tried out Nottingham’s transport network before our event is the perfect time to give it a go.
We’ve worked with our friends at trent barton and NCT to get you a special voucher for discounted travel to the event. Our voucher is for a free single trip on trent barton buses going into the city centre or a half-price Group Rider ticket on NCT buses in Greater Nottingham.

If you’re not sure what bus to get try using the fantastic online journey planner www.travelineeastmidlands.co.uk. Simply type in your starting point and “Nottingham Castle, Nottingham City Centre” as your final destination, decide what time you want to travel and the site will do the rest.
And if you enjoy your journey NCT will be at the event with their mobile travel centre, where you can buy a brand new Easyrider card. Not only will this get you cheaper travel on NCT buses and NET trams but you’ll be entitled all to all the benefits of Nottingham’s Citycard. This will give you special discounts at all sorts of venues throughout the city – not bad for a humble bus pass!
Don’t forget you don’t have to travel the whole way by bus – why not use one of the seven park and ride sites around Nottingham? The cost of your parking is included in your bus ticket, so if you use a park and ride with our special discount voucher you’ll be making some great savings on travel.
Prefer to get on your bike? No problem, we’ll be providing extra cycle parking on Castle Road on the day. Try using the excellent north and south Nottingham cycle maps to figure out the best way to get to the event.
The Big Wheel’s Big Day Out is also easy to get to on foot and all that extra exercise will help you to get fit so you look good and feel great. Or if after the event you feel the need to stretch your legs Nottingham Castle’s just a short walk to the Big Track. That’s a 10-mile car-free route, that’s perfect for spotting wildlife and historical attractions.
