If you’re planning to go along and join in the fun make it a car-free day. You’ll be able to take full advantage of everything the festival has to offer without the headache of getting your car home.
Nottingham Castle is just a short walk from Maid Marian Way and the Old Market Square, where lots of buses and the tram stop. If your bus only goes as far as the Broadmarsh Bus Station or Victoria Centre you can catch the free Centrelink bus until 7pm to get you as far as Mount Street and walk the rest.
How late your buses run until will depend on which service you need to catch. Check the timetable before you head out, on the NCT or trent barton websites or by phoning the travel centre on 0115 950 6070. And remember, there are several night buses that can get you home after midnight if you plan to carry on partying after the festival closes.
If night buses don’t run on your route why not get together with a group of friends to get a taxi home? The best thing you can do is book one before you head out, but if that’s not possible try to use a taxi rank, there are several around town. Remember to only ever flag down a hackney carriage – you may not be covered by insurance if you get into a private car that you haven’t pre-booked.
The Robin Hood Beer Festival should be great fun, so just remember these few tips and don’t spoil a great day by driving after you’ve tried a few too many beers. Have fun!
