We’re big fans of anything that’ll help more of you to get out on your bike, which is why we’re hoping that a fab new folding bike goes into production.

The innovative “Contortionist” bike has been designed by Dominic Hargreaves who recently finished a postgraduate degree at the Royal College of Art. He was looking to create a better bike for commuters, as he says:

“Folding bikes at the moment just seem too big and bulky to carry around… I wanted something that folded but primarily was a good bike”

What makes the Contortionist so special? Well, the wheels still move when it is folded it – making it easy to fold up and drag onto a bus or tram. And we aren’t the only ones who love it – James Dyson, the famous vacuum cleaner inventor, has described the bike as “ingenious”. Not only that, but it’s in line for the James Dyson Awards, which give a whopping £10,000 in prize money to the winner!

We’ve got our fingers crossed for Dominic, but we’re particularly keen to see this bike on sale. If the designer gets his way they’ll be in production next year.

Find out more about Dominic’s folding bike. Have you ever thought about commuting by bike? Read this article and you’ll soon be convinced it’s a great idea!
